CAGE DIVE WITH GREAT WHITE SHARKS
A remarkable Garden Route experience
Mossel Bay is a coastal stop on South Africa’s Garden Route, situated between Cape Town
and Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). White Shark Africa has operated from the area since 1995  combining shark tourism with research, conservation, filming and education.
Mossel Bay is a very rich area with its abundant sea life of diverse fish, seals, whales, penguins, other sea birds, dolphins, the occasional orca and, of course, a plentiful supply of Great White Sharks.
Mossel Bay is a well-established town with world famous golf course(Pinnacle Point), pharmacies, chain stores, photo shops, hospitals. etc. It is a delightful place with beautiful north-facing beaches, good surfing, sailing, windsurfing, hiking trails, dive spots, airport only 35km away, three game parks, parachuting, quad bikes, nature reserves and is at the start of the world-famous Garden Route. It is well-serviced by the national road system.
Mossel Bay has a mild, ocean-moderated subtropical climate with over 300 sunny days each year. It is famously known for having one of the mildest and most comfortable climates in the world.
If you are into diving then Mossel Bay offers some excellent dives. There are easy dives along the harbour walls, deeper dives on the many reefs and shark feeding dives near the dock.  You can do a dive course right in Mossel Bay so please ask us about these activities.

What Happens on the Day?

*SHARK CAGE DIVING DAY-TRIP*
A day trip is the simplest way to add a high-impact wildlife experience to a Garden Route
itinerary. Guests meet the operator before departure for coffee, a safety briefing and
preparation, then travel by boat to the shark site. The day can work for divers and nondivers,
with topside viewing available for guests who prefer to remain on the boat.

    IMPORTANT:
Plan for changing coastal conditions. White Shark Africa advises guests to bring sunscreen,
A towel, swimwear if they intend to dive, a camera, a hat or cap and a warm jacket. The
operator also recommends that guests who are prone to motion sickness plan suitable

    Our Boat

Our Boat, “1st Strike” is a modern 12.5m long and 4m wide motor cat custom built for shark cage diving. The boat has a large viewing platform on top, space on the main deck for seating and viewing and is equipped with toilet facilities in the main cabin.

Our Diving and Viewing trips are wonderfully educational, enriching both mind and soul.

As the only White Shark operation along the Garden route, we’re afforded the advantage of seals being our only competition for the shark’s attention.

Historically, we have an 84% annual average rate of successful shark viewing and diving.

    FAQ

    1.Do I need to be a Diver?

No. The operator describes both cage-diving and topside viewing, so non-diving
companions can ask about watching from the boat. Confirm the most suitable option for
your group or individual  when enquiring.

    2.Are Shark Sightings guaranteed

No. White Shark Africa states that it has a high success rate but that a sighting is not
guaranteed. Weather, sea conditions, wildlife behaviour and operational decisions can
    affect the day.

    3. How long does a trip take?

The operator generally describes the trip as approximately four hours, but the actual
duration can vary. Confirm the meeting time, launch time and return time for your chosen
    date. (Preferably a day before)

    4. What is included in the day trip?.

The operator lists diving and viewing, wetsuits and dive equipment, light lunch, snacks,
refreshments, afternoon tea and a certificate on request. Confirm the current inclusions
    and any exclusions before booking.

5.How far in advance should I enquire?.

Earlier is better for preferred dates, group travel and linked flights or accommodation. If
you are already travelling, send us your date range as soon as possible so that availability
    can be checked.

    6. Who will confirm and operate the booking?.

Opentravelhub is an enquiry and travel-planning channel. White Shark Africa is the
operating provider for the shark experience. The provider must confirm the final
availability, price, terms and reservation status. Opentravelhub also has direct contact with WSA admin.

    7. Payment for Booking.

It is preferable for visitors to visit the office a day before launch, to make payment and confirm booking for number of divers and non- divers. Do not treat an enquiry as a confirmed reservation until the operator has confirmed it and any required payment has been made through the agreed channel.

    NOTE:

Great white shark cage diving in Mossel Bay is a Garden Route day-trip experience operated by White Shark Africa. Departing from Mossel Bay, the outing combines a marine briefing and boat trip with the option to enter a shark cage or watch from the boat. Shark sightings and diving are not guaranteed because conditions and wildlife behaviour vary. OpenTravelHub can check dates, group requirements, and current availability with the operator. “This is an availability enquiry, not an instant reservation. White Shark Africa must confirm the date, price, terms, and payment with the visitor”.
